North Tipperary County Council (Irish: Comhairle Contae Thiobraid Árann Thuaidh) is the local authority which is responsible for the county of North Tipperary in Ireland. The Council is responsible for Housing and Community, Roads and Transportation, Urban planning and Development, Amenity and Culture, and Environment. The county seat is in Nenagh. The head of the council has the title of Cathaoirleach or "Chairperson".
The county council is governed by the Local Government Act 2001. The county is divided into ten electoral areas and has 30 councillors who are elected every five years by single transferable vote. The county administration is headed by a county manager.
On 26 July 2011, the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan announced the proposed merger of North Tipperary County Council and South Tipperary County Council.[1]
